Music Videos We Love – Eva Brooks, Cereus Bright, Logan Lynn, Marcus King

Eva Brooks embraces her weird in the video for her single Done.  Like jesters of her unconscious Eva finds herself pampered by an attentive troop lead by a curious masked actor.  We interpret it as adapted dramatizations of a toxic relationship, with amusing outbursts littered throughout that effectively reflect atypical modes of insanity.  The songs a catchy alt bop too, with a smart pop composition that reflects the works of Dua Lipa and Leonora.  Check it out.

A gorgeous arrangement gets a proper music video companion in the work of Cereus Bright and his new single Boys. Like a lost soul entrapped by the curiosities of the occult, the videos abstract non linear design appears to feature troubling flashbacks all reflecting different version of rock bottom.

Paired with the musics cinematic swings, it’s an effective visual experience.  What does it all mean?  What does anything mean?  This is beautiful art.

Cereus Bright – Boys

Logan Lynn gives the writing of Bill Callahan new color with their rendition of To Be Of Use.  They amplify the narratives existential quarrel with an inspired music video. Its wonderfully artistic and abstract in tandem with the music productions own creative design.

For us it reflects the collateral trauma of being in touch with your spirit in a way thats daunting, as if to say we’re so small and insignificant yet so unique and rare at the same time.  It’s that eastern mantra that life is suffering, but to give yourself to it with that knowledge leads to liberation.  Try not get hurt dig.  Dig in.

Cardboard instruments for the win!?  We’re so impressed with what’s happening on Cardboard Sessions, a series that brings musicians into the studio to performing with instruments that substitute cardboard for wood.  The cardboard adapted instruments on this episode include a bass, guitar, and even the drum set!

Episode 22 features none other than Marcus King, the Americana Blues darling and a perennial festival favorite.  He navigates the cardboard Strat style impressively, admiring the musicality of the instrument and how it inspired him.  Are cardboard instruments going to be a real option in the future?  The series makes a good case that it could happen.  Check it out.
