Retro Pop Revival – The New Division, BEHOR, Coleurs, Color Theory x My Manifesto x Rogue VHS

Synthwave trailblazers The New Division drop another anthem with their recent Lust for Lies.  Pushing the retro pop nostalgia beyond new wave, Lust For Lies feels like a turn of the decade lost treasure from the early 90s.

We hear evidence of U2 and INXS mixed in with the classic influence of Depeche Mode and Duran Duran.  The production is glorious and effectively features guitar while retaining a synthwave feel.  The instrumentations recalls a similar aesthetic to projects like Retrolyphs and The G.  Check it out.

BEHOR finds new flavor within a familiar vibe on their recent Angel.  The project blends shimmering synthwave and a dark gothic vocal style convincingly.

Dressed differently it could be a bright pop new wave feature, but the artists darkwave tendencies shine through gloriously.  We love the singers dark eccentric sensual energy.  It’s an effective crossover hit that could please fans of Carpenter Brut and The Midnight alike.

NRW gets back to their roots with This Life, the new single from Coleurs.  Reflecting the essence of synthwaves origins, This Life resonates with a vibe familiar to College and early The Midnight.  It’s a strong effort within that vibe and a feel good listen synthwave fans won’t be able to deny.

This timeless nostalgic aura connects with the projects positive intentions, as the artist hopes his music will lend itself to meaningful experiences, much like the emotions tied to the era that inspired it.

Something special is happening between Color Theory and My Manifesto.  They celebrate the brilliance of their recent collaboration Without a Doubt with a delectable remix courtesy of fellow synthwave icon Rogue VHS

The rich electro rework retains the retro sensibility while adding some extra textured sonic flash.  It embraces the songs aura and just tweaks the energy slightly in a way that feels fresh.  Both the remix and the original are awesome and reenforce that My Manifesto and Color Theory are full of art-tastic contrast.
