Oh my oh my. Our nostalgic radar went bananas when we heard Stars. The new single from Fright Years is a revelation. We can simply baske in its melodic nature. Full of passion and candid appeal, everything is in its right place on this indie rock masterpiece. Stylistically it recalls the writing of Arcade Fire and how they’re inspired by Springsteen.
Of course it adds something entirely unique courtesy of Fright Years brilliant lead singer. We’re grateful in how she embraces an influence of 80s alternative and underground punk. It’s as if Hop Along fronted The Waterboys. Is this love?

When the drop hit we were all in on Britney Spears, the new single from Ceres. The narrative might be slightly cheeky, but what erupts from this inspired performance is anything but. The declaration “I Was Obsessed” rings like a proper crisis.
The band effectively blends their emo influences with their rock instincts. The duet adds to the cinematic appeal. Stylistically it’s a sure thing for fans of Petey and the 5th wave emo movement.

We’re in love with Siblings, the new single from STORFØLT. The song is a gorgeous dose of sentimental brilliance. It’s absolutely epic and uplifting in a way that doesn’t feel cheesy. It’s beautifully produced with entrancing orchestrated layers of synths and guitars.
Most notably, the singer has a rare obscure nature. He makes amazing use of broken timbre. The performance is convincing. This is how we imagine Future Islands might sound if they forayed into Post Rock. For us, Siblings is a triumph.

THE VIRGINIA PLANES will get you out of your seat with their new single Kiss In The Morning. This dreamy pick me up reigns momentous courtesy of the inspired drum performance. This an’t jazz honey. This is why every band needs a proper rock drummer, so that they might take a familiar beat and infect it proper.
Beyond the beat, the atmospheric layers churning beneath the singers dreamy timbre land infectious. Get into the moment. Stylistically it’s a sure thing for fans of ALVVAYS and The Breeders looking for something a little heavier.
