Best New Indie Folk – HD Bradley, P0ETLAND, Steve Zita, Travis Straw

We love what HD Bradley did with his new single if you’re gonna stay. Its a slacker indie folk gem that’s sure to connect with fans of Alex G or Mac DeMarco. It finds HD Bradley immersed between layered acoustic instruments all chiming in harmonious bliss. You get intertwined in poetic web of his swirling lyrics before being whipped into an interpretive dance offered by the unexpected drum part. We love it.

We dig the dark indie folk appeal of I’m Gonna Miss You, the new single from P0ETLAND. There’s a haunting to their voices broken yearning. We hear hints of Daniel Johnston and the flaming lips. Like them both P0ETLAND is unapologetic and unaltered. This one feels real.

Steve Zita caught our attention with their new single Say the Words (Tell Me I’m Yours). His voice has a bit of raw indie rock essence. It adds nice contrast to this dreamy indie folk arrangement. The arrangement builds euphorically with Zita caught in the center of atmospheric washes. Stylistically we think he connects with artists like Mt Joy.

We were drawn into the nostalgic nature of Late Night Wanderer, the new single from Travis Straw. The singers smoky timbre finds the middle ground between Ray LaMontagne and The Lumineers. We also hear the writing influence of Zach Bryan. We can dig it.
