Best New Rock – Borders of Nothing, FrontSeat58, sundayclub

From the first vibrant guitar chord through every entrancing melody, we found ourselves loss in the dreamy noisy contrast heard on The Life We Knew, the new single from Borders of Nothing. Something special happened on this track. It’s seldom we’re so enthralled by a chord based guitar approach; we’re typically more into calculated picking. The way they trash into the chords just hits different, recalling the vibrance of Radiohead’s The Bends or classic songs from The Replacements. The singer adds a hypnotic touch that blends elegantly into the chaos of drums and guitars. This Mexico based band deserves some serious buzz. We are into it.

A sweet melodic guitar with inviting qualities welcomes the voice on Reminiscing, the new single from FrontSeat58. A charming blend of emo and indie rock lands convincing with shades of Kings of Leon colliding with remnants known to Built to Spill. An expressive guitar shimmers beneath an emphatic drum performance. You can tell the drummer has the chops for the best pop punk or heavy metal band. It adds an interesting touch to this blend. Get into it.

We crushed hard on Camera Shy, the new single from sundayclub. Cool indie rock starlets still have our heart and when the writing is this gorgeous its hard not to fall for it. We’re just buzzing to see this band in concert and that has a lot to do with the effect of this recording. You can hear the energy and enthusiasm bursting from the speakers. This is a band that knows how to kill in concert. An absolute yes for fans of Paramore or Boy Genius but we think that they can reach and even broader scope. Hear for yourself.
