Best New Indie – Jordan Patterson, ROREY, Folly Tree, Nate Daniels

Jordan Patterson stood out with her new single Just My Friend. The songwriting aesthetic recalls an influence of The White Stripes while her aura has some Remi Wolf or Brittany Howard vibes. Its a killer indie rock soul bop full of funky bluesy essence. Patterson is simply different and for that we are so grateful.

Youth is still free but time is of the essence in the video for Sudden Death, the new single from ROREY. The New York based recording artist has a dynamic touch, touching both approachable indie pop and faintly abstract simultaneously. The video accents her star potential but ROREY is more than a pretty face, she’s got real songwriting chops to hang with the likes of Boy Genius types.

Folly Tree finds contrast in the safety of Danger, their new single. A chill psych pop vibe isn’t typically the template for a song called Danger, but this one just works. Flying somewhere between the realms of Mac Demarco and Rhye, Danger sounds sensual and soulful. The video takes it one step further. Its a cinematic triumph.

We got more than we bargained for when we pressed play on Janice From HR, the new single from Nate Daniels. We suspected a narrative that mirrored the classic show The Office, but Nate Daniels shows smart songwriting can talk about our life right now and make it sound fantastic. This bygone practice was the standard of classic rock. Maybe indie has a chance after all. This is what it might sound like if Springsteen and The Killers had a baby. Stay timeless.
