Milkie admits that when her godfather gave her the White Album when she was eleven, it turned out to be the most religious experience of her upbringing. Her new single Crystal, much like the White Album, is anything but conventional. It’s smart retrospective writing with abstract lyrical touches that offer commentary on both the world at large and her own internal conundrums. Spirted and refreshingly creative musical theater, Milkie fits in well with artists like Mitski, St Vincent and Bjork. We love that aesthetic.

We dig the groove on burn all night, the new single from summerhouse & blackbird. Vibrant layers of soft synths and a lively lead guitar part rise in tandem with the emotional earnesty of the main vocal. Its both anthemic and comforting, courtesy of the singers lush emotive timbre. The moment can get you on the dancefloor or give you some feel good melancholy vibes beneath the escape of your earbuds. There’s a vintage cool permeating form skatergirl, the new single from harrry and Suzy Wu. The rhythmic spirit revives nineties alt pop memories while some modern jest keeps the moment youthful. The earworm chorus has pure singalong appeal. The collab keeps it fun while still retaining some underground edge. We love that.

We dig the theatrical progressive spirit of Castles in the Sand, the new single from Dale John Max and Sara Jade. Max’s inspired vocal quivers with acquired desperation. The chorus erupts with classic rock appeal, recalling the legacies of Meatloaf and classic rocks turn of the century late seventies/early eighties evolution. The vibe is simply invigorating.
