Best New Indie – Sughn, Tristan Rene, MADOUX, Sable

Sughn presents a journey through song with her imaginative new single running to you.  The progressive appeal adds an alluring presentation.  It’s glorious art driven alt pop that breeds experimental within a Billie Eilish type vibe. There are alt Rnb under layers that tag an influence of Sza with Foushee type eccentric appeal.

This dark twisted fantasy aims to turn your headspace upside down within a catchy melodic framework, one that stays accessible while honoring its abstract tendencies within the arrangement.  We can dig it.  The hype is legit.

Tristan Rene enwrapped us in the hypnotic guitar work heard on Light Up Garden.  The revolving riff defies convention while remaining approachable.  The mix has a nice pump to honor the intriguing rhythmic design.  The vocals add melodic depth and a narrative to spur your imaginative journey.

There’s an exotic affect and melodic clues that suggest an influence of Radiohead, Tame Impala, and Hozier.  Like them Tristan Rene pushes us into new creative realms without feeling obtrusive.  The Garden sounds inviting, check it out.

Dutch indie pop export MADOUX caught our attention with her new single Wilderness.  Initially presenting within the indie folk realm, the vibe evolves dramatically as an excitable beat honors the entrancing melodic energy of the hook vocal.

Wilderness is epic.  It’s a reflection of the artists expansive range.  She illuminates the compositional drama with a cinematic sound design full of sonic wonder.  That blend could draw comparisons to artists like Florence Welsh, as MADOUX sounds stadium ready, with an expansive range perfect to resonate through a large venue.

Sable caught our attention with the epic appeal of her new single I Just.  This slow groove illuminates her naturally anthemic nature, as she pours every ounce of emotion into this trademark performance.  Her piercing high register recalls the impactful works of Prince and that iconic interpretation credited to Sinead O’Connor.  Sable brings modern tech into that vibe, adding a massive production in the vein of recent works by Bon Iver.

Her performance shines beyond the notes and into the realm of conjured experience, as Sable channels a lifetime of suffering into this glorious work.  It’s equally comforting and liberating, both to know there are others who feel this and to know they found a way to exercise it.
