We were drawn into the soft fury of Sleep On It, the new single from Jodi Nicholson. There’s an invigorating affect to the songs pensive opening build. The narrative feels eager for spiritual redemption. It’s not about liberation, but rather it feels more about validation. Sure the artists plight feels rooted in this vibe. Nicholson is an undeniable talent. It’s a trait that digs the blade of affirmation deeper. Until the accolades come proper, songs like this will continue to tear us apart. A beautiful blend of rock and the indie songwriting aesthetic. Sleep On It is a triumph.

We’re big fans of néomí. She had us at hello the first time we got caught within the weave of her entrancing timbre. Everything she touches finds us reduced to infatuation. Her recent is not different. Get deep into Do You Want To Be Honest? It’s another raw conjured singing performance. It’s’ also a masterclass in modern production. It resonates with her acquired influences like Bon Iver and Ben Howard. néomí is a considerably better singer than both. It’s a recipe for the remarkable. Hear for yourself.

CLOVER caught our attention with her new single Atlas. We’re big fans of this kind of soulful groovy indie pop blend. In that manner she reminds us of acts like Rhye. It’s a comparison we don’t shed lightly. Atlas feels tailor made for a sentimental memory basked in temporary love and complicated moments of ecstasy. There’s an escape to this vibe. It’s like an invitation to dance close while no ones looking. The songs late jazzy break brings reality back to the forefront. There’s fear to this kind of feel. Buyer beware.

Damn that’s fresh. It was our initial reaction to the funky fresh blend heard on the new single from RE:UM. Their latest between the lines is an eclectic does seeped in an appreciation for hip hop and classic soul. Mixed with indie instincts and a guitar hero heart, RE:UM finds the middle ground between James Blake and Khruangbhin. The loose swagger of the vocal lands seductive yet distrustful. It sounds too thirsty to be trusted, and we like it. Perhaps that late female contribution serves as an obvious innuendo. We’ll let you decide.
