Lightsource and Indigo have a new collaboration called Drifting and its a classic synthwave banger. Paying homage to the the genres early roots serves timely during a period of mourning in the international community. Drifting has a Drive Soundtrack style vibe, a homage to the late pioneer DJ Kavinsky. Though Kavinsky denied his association with the genre, his music will forever be an influential part of what made this scene happen. If you’re into a good classic synthwave throwback that lands ironically nostalgic twice over, Drifting does the job.

Give us a dark gothic synth hit and a damn cool music video to boot and we’re hype! You can have both in the eureka combination that is Black Doldrums and their new single Repetition. There’s something about these images and this music that says this is more than just a phase. These gothic beauties land authentic. Kevin Gibbard and Sophie Landers produce a contemporary form of gothic post-punk, the kind that pulls you into the shade. Some like it darker.

We don’t know what any of this means but we love what we hear on De Frente Pro Mar, the new collaboration between producer Phloet and singer CHUFI. An international musical affair sounds complicated within rich layers of droning atmosphere. Punchy drums rip a raucous groove as stacked vocals swirl like a sirens call. A studied vocal touch hits the highest notes as the arrangement adapts aggressive in the songs main verse section. Stylistically we hear notes of Massive Attack to match their ambient instincts. Its a vibe.
