Tom A. Smith is crazy convincing on his new single Am I Ever Gonna Be A Rock Star? Or should we say; crazy and convincing. There’s a lucid unhinged candid brilliance to this vocal part. Its as if a burst of inspiration found him on stage at just the right moment and all the feelings took over in aggravated jest. The music compliments his fury and adds to the post punk flavor. There’s something inherently brit about his vibe, as if an upbringing of Prodigy and Hives infect his Idles/LCD Soundsystem influence. At just 21 years Smith has found his anthem. Get into it.

Hunny Buzz has a new song called Sweet Perfume and the two titles next to eachother just make sense. This is the sweetest thrashing rock moment of the season. Guitars full of conviction ring radiantly as the singer emotional complex infects her naturally smooth timbre. She puts a lot of emotion into this performance and rises righteously to this emo shoegaze occasion. Stylistically they flow somewhere between Paramore and Wednesday. We freakin’ love it!

Creative chameleon Kid Tigrrr is back with a new album and some killer new singles. The album Pantalaimon is full of fresh songs that stand unique and honor their burgeoning aura. The single Cloud Machine is a dark siren infused epic. Moody in a way that’s both sultry and creepy, artist Jenna Fournier leans into her hypnotic traits while embracing her complicated rock tendencies. As frontwoman of shoegaze pioneers Niights, Fourier won illustrious fans like Billy Corgan and enjoyed celebrated tours in exotic places. Freshly empowered and wanting to do things on her own terms, Fournier created Kid Tigrrr so she could break through any and all creative boundaries. The result is a combination of chamber pop and indie rock where she bears contrasting facades familiar to influences like Mazzy Starr, Grimes, and The Cure.

Woah. That was our honest reaction when we heard the music drop on August, the new single from Jaïr Faria. This is a rare approach we typically don’t subscribe to. Just being honest, but we’re typically not looking for an R&B style vocal within an epic indie rock aesthetic, but this one just works; and that’s a severe understatement. August is a hit that will bring various fans together in fandom of Jaïr Faria’s rare style. He’s got real mainstream appeal in the realm of Sombr or Post Malone. Its one of those songs that we think anyone would like.
